What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Very unique but with huge benefits

EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that has been developed to treat trauma (PTSD) and has many benefits for anxiety.

It does this by using eye movements whilst thinking of past trauma/anxiety situations. This is processed deep within the brain, changing how you experience the memory of the trauma.

How Does It Work?

There are different phases to the process

During the process there different phases that you will be guided through. Once the history and assessment has been completed then there is a preparation phase.

Then processing can take place when you are ready. This is what you would consider the treatment phase. Lastly there is an evaluation of the treatment.

Different EMDR Methods

You can use the best method that suits

You can use hand eye movements to process the trauma. This is seen as the most effective method.

You can also use headphones and have sounds alternating from one ear to the other.

During the initial session we can figure out what method of doing EMDR will be best suited for you.
